Wooden long-pillar structures have been already spread for about 30 years. Industrially made long-pillar structures are more popular in Scandinavia and Canada, but they have found more admirers in Latvia lately. Such houses are ordered both by individual customers and developers of settlements and not without cause – they meet the requirements of all standards of dwelling houses and provide substantial advantages.

Wooden frame houses are wonderfully appropriate for our climatic conditions and they provide good microclimate in the premises. Many people find them attractive because of ecological compatibility, though there is no ground for doubting about stiffness of long-pillar structures.

Wood is nowadays finished by agents that protect and do no harm. One can say that prefabricated house is characterized by the advantage of wood, but faults of this material are not typical for it unlike log house, that is influenced by the unfavorable conditions of the atmosphere, even if it is made of seasoned wood. Frame structures of high quality can be leaned in places of construction joints, and acceptability of horizontal movements is removed.

Wooden frame houses are distinguished by the diversity of finish. One can use wood or gypsum plasterboard in the finish of internal walls. Outer walls can be finished by wood, face brick or decoration plaster. Outer walls of the building may be encased by the matchboard. Besides, outer and internal finishes serve only as a decorative means, as wooden frame house doesn’t require additional heat insulation.

Good frame house has been already provided with heat insulation according to all standards of the EC.

However, the main advantage of frame houses, undoubtedly, is the quick flow of fitter’s works that enables the customer not to waste his /her time. Stone structures require weeks and months, and frame house is delivered in the ready state to the project site. Building-up is fulfilled very quickly, if it is made by experienced workers. The footing of the frame house shouldn’t be massive as the footing of stone structure, as wooden structures have weight that is much less.

The main structure of frame-panel house is the wooden frame. It is encased from both sides and filled with the thermo-insulating material.

The panel width and dimensions, depending on the function of this structure (for outer, internal walls or the roof), can be printed. It is clear, that the more the panel is, the less places of joints will be necessary, the mounting will be even more quickly made and the structure will be more cast-in-block.

Frequently panels of outer walls are made of dry bars, lathing, moisture-resistant planch OSB/3,10mm, heat insulation, anticondensation film, depending on the wish of the customer, and sometimes on thin plank. The roof panel consists of dry roof timbers, anticondensation and windproof film, lathing, heat insulation and moisture-resistant building board OSB/3 10 mm inside.
